History
Achieving My Dreams Foundation, Inc. (AMDF) is a nonprofit non-tax exempt organization. The foundations purpose is to serve as a non-profit, socio-educational organization to improve the economic status and well-being of the community through sponsored programs, networking, and other activities.
Cozette M. White, founder and executive director of AMDF, recognizes the need to extend the opportunity for success to students and has created a charitable organization which benefits graduating high school students who aspire to earn a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution of higher education. Ms. White put herself through college by offsetting her educational expenses with financial aid, grants, scholarships, and part-time work. Although she was successful in her endeavors, Ms. White feels the need to give back to her community.
Thus, AMDF was formed to provide academic scholarships to students that desire to pursue an education at institutions of higher learning. Although the scholarships are for those majoring in Business Administration with emphasis in Accounting/Finance, it is the foundations goal not to overlook any student with a strong desire to pursue a higher education. Through this foundation, it is anticipated that numerous students will benefit from its programs for many years.
The ultimate satisfaction is to visualize the joy on the faces of every recipient as each student realizes that success is within reach.
Mission
AMDF, founded in 2011, provides a multi–faceted experience designed to not only address the financial needs of students who aspire to attend college but also to guide them through the process of higher education, molding them into dynamic leaders with a commitment to public service. The awards are given to outstanding high school graduates who plan to earn a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution of higher education. The program plans to increase the number of students attending the colleges and universities of their choice where they are poised to develop their academic skills and leadership talents.
Scholarship Award
AMDF provides scholarships of up to $5,000 annually to high school students showing leadership potential and demonstrating financial need to attend an accredited four-year college or university of their choice. The scholarships will compliment the financial aid students receive from their college or university for tuition and other education expenses (books, housing, etc.). The Foundations goal is to assist up to five (5) graduating seniors each year. Business, corporate, and individual contributions as well as grants are being sought to support the foundations objectives.
